Duplet is a superfamily of refined sans-serif type families, with fourteen fonts that are carefully crafted in every detail. Duplet is part of an entire superfamily which includes not only this upright version, but also Duplet Open and Siah Rounded. There are seven different weights and styles for each font, ranging from Condensed to Extended Bold.
A total of over a dozen typefaces to choose from with matching italics (or obliques) for each one – see above image that will show up when clicked on. The fonts contain more than four hundred fifty characters, covering all languages which use the Latin script. As the Duplet typefaces are based on geometric forms, the round characters and rounder parts of other letters default either to circles or a slanted circular form (as seen in italics).
Duplet’s shapes are low-contrast, with strokes that are even in width. Because they offer support for dozens of languages which are based on the Latin script, the character sets contain many versions of accented letters. The default form of ‘a’ in each font is single-storey. The big round bowl shows that Duplet is truly geometric – yet there is an OpenType alternate which is double-storey. The standard ‘g’ is also single-storey, with its bottom stroke flattened to make it smoother and simpler-looking.
There are three more forms of ‘g’ (as alternate characters) in every Duplet font. Alternates are present for ‘k’, ‘u’, ‘G’, ‘K’, ‘M’ and the ampersand (&). The character sets also contain small-cap forms. These are punctuation marks which have been vertically repositioned so they look better when used together with all-capital texts. Numeral-wise, both proprotional lining figures and tabular lining figures are included – also fractions, superior numerals and inferiors. Diana Ove mber and Rafał Buchner are the designers.
