Bega is a simplified sans serif typeface. Formal reduction plays a strong role in its design. It is most visible in its spurlessness. The visible strokes are called spurs, and they have been eliminated from the letterforms where you would normally see them. By far the most clear is the lack of spurs when you look at the top left corners of letters like m, n, or r. The Bega family includes eight weights that range from Thin through Black. Each weight has two fonts on offer; an upright font and an italic.
The italics of Bega are obliques; their letterforms are merely slanted. The strokes of Bega’s letterforms all seem to be monolinear; that doesn’t mean that Bega is without contrast. Because the family has a lot of them – eight – you can combine two or more between each other to create headlines that show a lot of contrast!
