Break Roman is highly exaggerated to display a type, a combination of the gothic temperament of the blackletter tradition and the stereotypical perfection of the modern serif type, in a very aggressive manner. The company Alit Design Studio did not make it a font, but a typographic experience so entertaining, full of epic drama, its rebellious attitude, and fine craftsmanship.
The Break Roman not only has the visual language associated with it that extends further than centuries, but it attracts the spirit of the Middle Ages to the very zeitgeist of visual culture of nowadays. Its elaborate glyphs are normalized against the art of the illuminated manuscript, yet a contact edge of confrontational modernity that speaks fluently despite the luxury editorial direction, as well as branding of the urban streetwear.
Break Roman is created using the blackletter aesthetics and this trend entails the Vertical stress, brutal finishes and the refined darkness. Then however, over it, is the form and balance to be found in a modern serif, or in other words, it can be read as much as possible, is stylishly carnivorous, and genre-free.
