Introducing Caslon Antique Serif Font is a decorative American typeface that was designed in 1894 by Berne Nadall. Created in 1935, it was known initially as “Fifteenth Century”, before Nadall’s foundry, Barnhart Bros. & Spindler, renamed it “Caslon Antique” in mid-1920s. Their design of the typeface implies the Colonial style. The early printers would take metal type and engrave it over and over until its faces wore out and the appear to be pitted and worn. Caslon Antique is similar to this look.
Surprisingly, it has no connection with the Caslon types even if its name suggests that it is a descendant of that family. This re-naming is thought to have been a marketing strategy which would make a typeface, that had not been very popular, popular because of its name, caslon types. italic variation is also available through this font. Besides the versions that go by the name ‘Casablanca,’ Corel has its version of the same font branded as ‘Casablanca Antique. ’
