Matteo is a sans serif typeface. The family has been named by the designer Diana Ovezea in Italian so that when its users view it in the mind, they can think about fast cars. The family is comprised of 14 styles; 7 weights, starting with Thin and ending with Bold. All these contain an accompanying italic. The angle of Matteo italics is extreme (15o) that is rather peculiar to a sans serif design. These italics are oblique and the single-storey a is used in place of the two-storey a in upright.
Matteo is a great choice to be used in editorial and corporate identity design, advertising or annual reports. Its letterforms have also been optimized with their shapes and the spacing of the letters so as to provide the reader with a pleasing reading experience even in longer texts. The greatest characteristic of the typeface is the geometric structure, which is the circles and ovals one.
